This is incredible French food! They don't take reservations but do have a cute bar that you can wait at for a table. You can also go across the street to 3rd Corner, which is a cute wine-bar with a wonderful menu if you either (a) want to get a bottle of wine for dinner while you wait (b) want to hang at their bar while you wait or (c) decide you don't want to wait and want good food now!

The Famed Weissmuller Pool at the Lafayette hotel: At almost three quarters of a century old, 300,000 gallons, and almost 25 meters long. The pool is continuously voted as one of the best in San Diego, remaining a top draw of the hotel and neighborhood. Over recent years the pool’s popularity has exploded, making it a summertime Mecca for locals and even LA residents looking to unwind. In fact, people love the pool so much that it now plays regular host to DJ's, bands, and events on a regular basis.
You can buy a pass for $20/day.

This is even more fun than the zoo in my opinion. If you're picking one I'd lean toward this. With that said - it's about a half hour north where as San Diego Zoo is close to downtown and Balboa Park.
The animals are in their own natural habitats and you can even zipline over them! Very fun!

Parks & Nature
This park is gorgeous! Think Central Park in San Diego. There are a ton of beautiful museums that were built 100 years ago for the world fair. It feels like you've stepped into Europe when you walk around Balboa Park. Many cultural events.
There's also fun cultural activities on the weekends with food and music at the International Cottages: http://www.sdhpr.org/.
You can also do free star gazing on the first Wednesday of each month.

There's the roller coaster, the Wave House, several great restaurants and the beach. If you have a rental car that you can fit my bikes into, then drive them down & cruise on the long boardwalk all through Mission & Pacific Beaches.

Cowles Mountain is the highest point in the city of San Diego. On a clear day you can see Mexico, the Beach & all over in an incredible 360 degree view. Dogs are welcome too! I suggest hiking mid-week as the weekend is really busy.

My home is 7.8 miles from the convention center. If you're coming for business and want to be close yet able to get away from the downtown craziness - this is an ideal place for you.
