Activities / Day Trips
Great day trip. Check the weather conditions to determine best time of day to go. Note in the summer it's best to go early morning or very late in the day as the sand can get very hot.
You can rent sandboards at three local concessioners. The Oasis Store is immediately outside the park. There’s also Kristi Mountain Sports in Alamosa, which rents boards as long as the sand isn’t frozen. Also, Sand Dunes Recreation in Hooper rents boards, plus you can go for a soak in their hot springs when you go to return them!
