Very good food and reasonably priced. There are some menu items here that are probably among the best in the city. I think this place was on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

Here's a little gem that only the locals know about. It's close but not walking distance, so you'll need a car or cab. Sammy's, in my humble opinion, has the best gumbo in all of New Orleans. And their roast beef po boy is at least in my top 3 (it's hard to pick an absolute favorite). The prices are great, the setting is cafeteria style, but they only keep lunch hours. It's super busy between noon and 1pm, so you may want to time your visit between 2 and 3pm.
